Is it a screen top? If so, you can tape some saran wrap over a portion of the top to help keep in humidity. I've done this with one of my tanks that had problems holding humidity. Hope this helps.

Might need more information. Do you use live plants, do you have a natural substrate? Live plants increase humidity as well as a natural substrate like eco earth. If you already use eco earth, you can try mixing in a little sand to help retain moisture. You can also spray multiple times a day.

The truth is a little drop in humidity throughout the day is unlikely to be problematic unless you start seeing stuck shed or other shedding problems. Nature works that way for a reason and as long as your animal is healthy I wouldn't worry about it.

I managed to raise on of my planters in my cage that holds a pothos plant. I spray 2 times a day and water the plant every other day with the same temperature and the humidity is just fine.

Maybe it's trivial, but it's good to keep in mind - the thicker layer of substrate, the higher humidity

what would be a good live plant to put in the terrarium with hip that will keep humidity and not take over the tank.

Sanservia (mother-in-law tongue) is one of my favorite phelsuma plants- strong enough to stand up to their being climbed all over, as well as hardy and handles the temps and humidity very well.

I use money tree in a lot of my Phelsuma enclosures. Also arrow head plant(sansevieria), pothos, and philodendron all work really well. All 4 of these types of plants like to have their soil WET, so if you use the little clear water cups to put the pot in you can keep them very wet and this will help increase humidity as well.

Hardware stores typically have sansevIeria. I made a mistake on my last post.. Arrow head plants are syngoniums. Most of the plants I posted work very well for Phelsuma. Arrow heads provide cover over time as they grow but are not very sturdy. I find these plants at home depot and lowes. You can also find a garden center in your area.

Oh, sansevieria is also called mother-in-laws tongue or snake plant. Rinse the plants off before using them with geckos. I believe places like grocery stores may spray something on the leaves to keep them shiny.
