Default Laying already?

Just cleaned Avara's enclosure (P. m. grandis) and found 3 eggs (infertile as she's a virgin) stuck in the Sanservia. Surprised me a bit as I didn't think she was quite old enough yet, and they were definitely not well calcified, but it sure does explain why she's been looking a little thinner to me the past week or so! (Not worrisome thin- I'd just noticed she'd lost a bit of pudge lol)

Everyone is done with quarantine now so I'm starting my Phelsuma pairings this week (though no male for Avara just yet), and now I'm just curious- who else is getting eggs already?

The females should lay eggs year round if they are being fed well. I got a pair of eggs from my Gold Dusts a few weeks ago. Don't know if they are good. I am leaving them in place to see if they will hatch and how the adults react(I know this won't sit well with everyone).

As far as age goes, I had my juvenile P pasteuri lay her first dud egg when she was about 4 months old, and her sister(who I shipped off earlier) laid her first eggs about 3.5 months old. I would wait until your gecko is of proper size/age before pairing her.

Sounds like she's asking for a boy, how old is she? My female laid several duds at about 1.5 yrs. They were all soft and poorly calcified as well. I introduced the male shortly after and within 2 weeks I had my first viable clutch. I attribute the successful pairing to Kona's duds, she knew she was ready.

First season end for me!! I got back into geckos in October 2010 and had one pair of P laticauda until a few months later. I kicked back the light times a bit over the last couple months and my room has been a lot cooler. One pair of Gold Dust Days that I put together late in the season have slowed down possibly, but not stopped. All the other females either have laid duds or not at all(or they ate the dud before I found it!). So, I am trying my first cool down and it might not be cool enough or short enough days, but I think I got it pretty good. I am going to start warming things up and increasing day length about mid february I think. By mid march I should be back to full days.
