Default Help from Phelsuma parkeri keepers

Aloha!

I am doing a quick poll to see how many Phelsuma keepers have actually been able to work with P. parkeri. I know the parkeri were imported in small numbers for the first time to the US in late 2008 and later in 2010. If you are currently working with them and are willing to pass on any information you have observed in overall behavior, husbandry, breeding, and personal experiences would be much appreciated. This information will be compiled in hopes in writing some literature about this species in captivity.

I am currrently working with 3.3 (WC) breeding groups, 2.2 F1 breeding groups. By the spring hopefully hatching out F2's from my own holdbacks.

I would be very interested in others feedback; We need to keep this beautiful
going!

thanks

I also have a small group of them. I can add only a few observations and reproduction with them has been sporadic. They tend to eat a lot and put out just a little - quite unlike most of my other Phelsuma experiences!

Best,
Jon

Hi,

I keep together with my girlfriend also 3.3 Phelsuma parkeri.

@ colin
Yes, they can be still imported, but only i small numbers. I think in the future there won't be a big import again, just because of two points. First, the WC animals were arrived in a very bad constitution. Most of them died in the shops and second, the shops couldn't sell them because this specie is not very colorful. It is a Phelsuma for fanciers

Kind regards,
Markus

@Jon....Agree with you on the fact that the parkeri are eating machines and the WC pairing are very sporatic breeders. I have noticed the first captive bred pairing that I put together has produced two clutches of fertile eggs in less than 4 weeks of each other.

@ Markus...How is your group fairing as far as breeding goes. Any observations on sporadic breeding?
