Talking Eggstraktor: a way to remove eggs from tight spots

I probably reinvented the wheel with this "invention", but I'll show it to you nonetheless. I was having problems getting my L. mombasicus eggs out from tight spots such as these:

So then it comes to me: I need something thin, that will nicely fit within a space that is, at most, the width of an egg: about 4-5 mm. But how will I get something that thin that can grasp the eggs without being wider than the egg itself? Even if the opening was a few millimeters larger, how would I go about estimating how much force I needed to hold on to the eggs without destroying them with something such as tweezers?

Solution: double-sided tape.

I used a scrap piece of light-colored (=soft) balsa wood that I happened to have on hand (since I also build RC-aircraft). Here's the piece of wood with a piece of double-sided tape:

Wrap the tape around the tip of the Eggstraktor wand and you're done! Leave the protective paper on the tip to prevent the glue from drying out and collecting dust.

..so how many of you all have used something 100% like this before? I'm guessing that at least a handful have done so. I've used a tool such as this to extract almost two dozen eggs so far, with zero problems.

I love the way you wrote "egg-straktor" on the side, now you have your own brand!! Patent pending!!

This is a problem that worried me when i found my eggs, i used paper kitchen towel. I roled it into a tube and bent it in half, like a tweezers and pucked up the eggs. The egg straktor is the next big thing, id buy one!!

Thumbs up cool tool!

Hmmm, seems a bit like some of these clay modeling tools... (just an example.)

I wonder if those would also work? I have some buried around in a storage closet somewhere, and an adult pair of L. williamsi on order from Justyn here in the forum, (They' re due to arrive next week, Yay!) So I guess I'll have a chance to find out in person sometime soon.

The main idea is in the tip: it is covered in double-sided tape that will hang on to the egg(s) when you need to get them out of a narrow space. I suppose you might as well use a different suitably small tool, once you attach the tape to the tip

Here's the tool in use, as I picked up a pair of eggs from the viv a second ago.

So far, there's 14 eggs in the incubator..
