Arrow best substrate for a gargoyle gecko?

I was just wondering what the best substrate would be to use for a trio of gargolye geckos.

A lot of people recommend using only paper towels to avoid the risk of impaction. I use eco-earth/terrarium humus with my garg but I make sure it is tightly packed down and also he is also fed from a dish so he isn't eating on the substrate.

There are many different schools of thought on this one.
