Default particle board..

i hear this stuff is supposedly horrible.. the thing is i'm not building a Rack necessarily, im more trying to just buy shelving and that's what the seating part of it is made of.. i'll provide a link so u can see what im trying to get. i need to know if it will work as is or if i need to get something to put in-between the tanks and the shelf.

Workforce 5-Shelf Heavy Duty Steel Shelving, 72 In. H x 48 In. W x 24 In. D - UR-245 at The Home Depot

it would be great if i can get some feedback

thanks

any moisture, humidity or prolonged heat and it will fall apart, particle board is horrible for pretty much anything imo. its made from chips of other cast off woods then pressure seald with a glue(wich is prolly toxic), try and get pine sheets or somthing thats one solid piece they are not much more expenive just a few dollers more per sheet.

For premade shelving its ok.

Yes it will fall apart if exposed to alot of moisture..direct contact..if it is not sealed.

You could cover it with contact paper if you have alot of leaks or spills.

Another option would be replace it with Medium Density Fiberboard (MDF), Much more water resistant. No wood product is water proof.

For the price difference just get wire shelving Units instead.
