Post Plant irrigation

I have a crested gecko and i think the tank he is way too boring without enough hiding places and overhanging trees etc. Im planning on creating a completely new enclosure that has live plants and a pool; this is where i am stuck, i see loads of people rambling on about making DIY misting systems and the sort but what about a drip system that you can have on a timer? Leaving it on short periods to water plants and raise humidity in the tank by watering some of the substrate. I know that i would have to keep refiling the false bottom and pool with water, but this doesnt bother me too much as i do monthly maintainence to the other tanks in my room but it would help to keep daily jobs down.

Any information very much appreiciated : )

We have a crested pair with a naturalistic viv that has a water side, much like what you are suggesting. For the same reasons we attempted a drip system and had no luck, so hopefully someone has some good input on the subject!

I'll be doing this for my p. sundbergi ladiguensis in a Zoo Med 18x18x24.. I'm following black jungle's idea: Front-Opening Showcase Vivarium How-To

I have the drip "manifold" thing on order, and have the pump, etc.
