Default What to do without eggcrates?

Hi there. I'm having some trouble down here. In my country the eggcrates you guys use as false bottom don't exist, so.. what else can I use for that purpouse?

Egg crate for false bottoms sounds like the hard white 'plastic' fluorescent light diffusers.

Is this what you mean? (It's not being used for a false floor in this case, but it's the only picture I've got handy)


If that's what you're looking for, you can make something almost as good with a sheet of acrylic or the like. Just drill a lot of holes into it to allow for drainage. I've used it for dart frog tanks and it works.

Again, this is being used as a lid flor my frog rain chamber not for a false floor, but it's the same as what I have used for false floors without problems. It just takes a lot of patience to drill the holes.

I didn't drill them, otherwise I'd still be working on it 10 years later. I have a friend who did it, and even after all that drilling, we're still friends.
