wood sealer?

Looking for a good and safe wood sealer to seal my bearded dragons cage up with. Im pretty sure its some kind of particle board. didnt know if you could use regular wood sealer or not. is something like thompson's water sealer ok?

Thats the little guy in my profile pic. he is much bigger know. he out grew that cage in like two months.
