I eceive update from the USARK and the bill S373 has been just limited to the 9 giants. So balls and other small pythons are off the list. Except for dwarf retics, and anacondas. Still banning them isnt going to do anything for the feral pop. It's sooo true that the HSUS is totally against any reptile ownership. They have been lobbying against it for the last 10 years. Now they have almost succeded in taking out a peice of the reptiles they are so against. And if they can take those out without any scientific proof they will keep trying whether they do it all at once or peice by peice is the question. I agree that anyone with a reptile should definately come together and oppose this bill if not just for the simple fact we all love reptiles. The reasons for this bill are really just a sham for the truth. They just arent fond of this hobby. Banning will do nothing for conservationas the feral pop will just keep growing as long as they have food, warmth, and a breeding partner. And there has only been 4 snake related deaths since 2006 in the us. So there arent many killer snakes out there. Unfortunately we have multitudes of morons and uneducated people surrounding us. So that is never helpful. Even though my ball pythons are off the list I am still fighting for those that have there incomes, and animals on the line.

Well, that's a small victory at least... now we just have to make sure it doesn't pass.

Vending machines kill more people every year. I think it's something like 8-12 deaths a YEAR. But you don't see people banning vending machines - they put up safeguards to protect people from them. The same should apply to animals that could be considered "risk" animals, like these huge snakes. Require permits, or educational classes, or something like that. Make education the focus of the effort. I don't know, I agree that none of this is going to help anyone.

as I said earlier, I sent letters to several high exposure companies politely asking them to post something about this bill on their website. So far, just one site has posted (LLLreptile.com) and we are up to 18 supporting, 702 opposed. lets ope someone looks at it...
