I applied for the gecko pet grant at PETCO and got awarded a grant to get a free gecko and set up. I have been looking online for care sheets and they are loaded with contradictory information.

I imagine the gecko will be a baby or a juvenile as it will be coming from PETCO. They need to be fed daily in some sources every other day in others. Some say when they are adults they only need to eat 2 times a week. Some say they are strictly insectivores one actually said to make them a salad!

I am so confused and I haven't even gotten the gecko yet. I plan on getting it once school is out and having him/her at home all summer so I can get used to caring for it before I bring it to school in the fall.

Can you suggest your best (for dummies) care sheet? Over the Year's I have kept 1 Ball Python, 2 Iguana, multiple Turtle and Tortoise Sp,
1 Flying Gecko - Ptychozoon Kuhli, 6 Various Leopard Gecko Morph's - Eublepharis macularius, and many WC Local Herp's. All of those were from the age 16 and under, I have since gained so much knowledge about reptile's, I'm pretty much a Dictionary/Encyclopedia or what ever. Lol. I DO NOT say this to sound ignorant or to sound like I'm better than someone, I just honestly enjoy knowledge about all herp's, In my free time I'm alway's surfing the web and talking to experienced people to gain all the knowledge about herp's that I possibly can, but I can admit, there are also many thing's that I do not know, do not understand, or might second guess myself about. But I'm still learning new thing's everyday.

My passion is the Gekko, Ptychozoon, and Uroplatus Specie's/Genus's.
I would consider myself more Experienced than most, I would put myself just Under Professional Breeder Status, as I'm not big into breeding my Herp's, so I don't do so, nor do I have the Experience a good breeder would have. But i do someday in the Future hope to have an Exotic Herp Shop, it has alway's been a dream of mine.

First I want to say this website is AWESOME! I love it already and am enjoying the forums. I have one leopard gecko, she's about a year and a few months old. Her name is Fatty. She's a normal morph, but still cute! She's really friendly and has been a great first reptile for me. She enjoys life out here in California and currently resides in the SF Bay Area with me. She has a 20L terrarium with reptile carpet and a whole desert theme set up. She shares my house with my 2 cats and hamster. I really love reptiles and I'm glad I have my own. My name is Mary or NerdyChick! Feel free to call me either. I'm 23 and have been married 2 wonderful years to my husband. We own 3 cats, 2 geckos, and numerous freshwater fish.

I joined a few months back, but never introduced myself due to lack of owning a gecko of my own. Now I have two Crested Geckos! Pepperoni who is 4-5 months old and is a bi-color dalmation (red and black spots). The second Crestie I call 'Shroom has tiger patterning all throughout his body, but is also bi-colored (Will ask under correct thread.) 'Shroom is only 2 weeks old so he has much more growing to do!

The husband and I plan to eventually start our own breeding projects due to such love of our geckos! We also enjoy other geckos and reptiles in which we plan to expand our collection. I'm excited to be apart of the community!
