On Friday we got our new baby! This addition is going to mainly be my boyfriends, as he was very jealous of me having a gecko. The baby is still getting used to his new place but has pooped twice and is eating every night which is great! We were told it is a high yellow jungle. It is such a cutie. Here it is! It has a perfect smiley face on its head that I'll try to get better pictures of soon.
(Sorry for the bad picture, it was taken with my phone.)

Not sure if anyone remembers me but basically I had bought a very skinny and unhealthy gecko from a pet expo back in January and she wouldn't eat. I just thought I'd share some before and after pictures of her.

Here she is the day I got her:

and here she is today thanks to everyone that helped me out being a first time leopard gecko owner :)

So I just wanted to say thank you for all the help. She is a really great eater now, her favorite things are mealworms which is odd because I could never get her to eat them when I first had her. I still think she might have a slight eye sight problem as she often misses her food when she strikes. I am completely in love with leopard geckos now, more so then I was before :P

Hi! This is my first Leo. I bought him from Petsmart yesterday for my nine year old son. His name is Smoke and he seems to be adjusting well to his new home. He's been exploring his caves and climbing all over them. I did a lot of research and setting-up before acquiring him, but I have a few questions. I gave him some crickets but he isn't interested in them. Is it common for them to not eat when they first come home? I've also read conflicting ideas about how often to dust crickets with calcium + D3 and vitamins. Smoke is a young gecko (2-3 months...he's 4.5-5" long). What is a good schedule for supplements?

Thanks for your help.

:) Hey again! It's been a while, but I wanted to stop back in and thank those on GU who have helped me, and show off Kirk as he's hitting the one year mark.
(Photo taken 6/14/2013)

This time last month, he measured 11.15 inches and 122 grams. He has lost a bit of weight since then, but he is healthy, so I'm not too worried.

Thanks again for the fun community and great advice.

I have a 9 year old male that has lost 20 grams, has thrown up a few times (not in a while) and has very foul smelling feces. I have contacted my vet and he is in the proccess sorting out a worming dose for him incase it is worms.I have been giving him critical care to keep him hydrated and his weight up. He is eating the locusts I put in with him but he cannot keep weight on him. If the worming dose does not work I shall get a fecal sample done and treat accordingly. M biggest worry is keeping his weight up. He is currently 52 grams and you can feel his spine, he doesnt seem ill though, looks bright and stuff. The critical care is the only thing keeping his weight up, is there any thing else I can give him? I have been disenfecting his viv and removing his feces few times daily. I took two weeks of my holiday hours of work to monitor him and do not want this leo to die, he was my first. Any advice is welcome.

Hey GU! So yah, it's been a while. So here's an update on Roxanne, Cheddar, and Banana. :)

Roxanne is currently shedding. She is eating very well and is full of energy. :)

Cheddar just shed a few days ago. She is a big eater as well but relaxes throughout most of the day and then goes nuts at night. ;) She's growing up very fast and looks nothing like she did last time i posted pics!

Then Banana. She shed recently too. Since her impaction passed a couple months ago shes been putting on weight and she could probably run 10 miles :p

I tried putting up a few new pics in the albums but the pictures are like 4 times bigger then they're supposed to be. I'm not sure how to fix this... HELP WANTED. Thanks :)

Hello! My name's Adrian. I just recently got a new leopard gecko from a petco. He's pretty much a baby, his name's Midas! And he is nothing short of adorable.
This is also my first time owning a Leo as well--so it's been kind of a wild ride! One thing I was a little concerned about though is that Midas has been really aggressive. I was just wondering if that was typical of a young male (although I'm not 100% sure of this because he seems too young to tell), or maybe just because he has been stressed due to moving from a big populated tank to one of his own, etc..
I've tried handling him once outside of me setting him into his new home and he just was not having it. He hissed and struck at my pinky, so I just waited until he let go of me and put the screen back on and left him alone ever since aside from feedings. I hope he hasn't been brought up to be this aggressive all the time because it would be a shame to have to work around a homicidal herp! Any suggestions/tips would be great!
As I said before, I did hold him for a while between me moving him from his temporary tank to the permanent one and at the time, he was pretty docile. If anything, he seemed to be having fun crawling around my hands. But ever since, he raises himself up and gets his aggressive face on any time he sees a hand or finger in his tank.

A random side note: He also seems to have a big aversion to mealworms. He is strictly cricket no matter what method I try. It's not a huge deal to me, but if it can compromise his health in the future, I need some advice because he seems pretty intent on eating crickets and only crickets.

I don't actually have my leopard gecko yet but i'm preparing for her (i want a girl), and i just want to make sure i do everything right before the big day (August 18th). So if anyone has any tips or advice about gecko care and setting up my cage and what to get that would be super helpful, but don't get me wrong i've done ALL my research and i really do feel prepared but i joined a site like this when i started my fish tank and it was SO helpful so i thought this site could be helpful to me as well? :) And i promise to post plenty of pictures once i get my baby!
