Talking Tokay care questions

Hey guys... I just purchased two today babies and am waiting for them in the mail. I have a small tank and nice wood to allow them up unto the "trees". I was wondering if any one had some good advice or a website that would show me how to best care for these guys? Thanks for all of the help...

Google > type "tokay gecko care" and/or "tokay gecko care sheet"

look at many of them, not just one, you'll get some varied info

what i'd say

-they need some height to climb (i guess at least 20 inches, it's not like geckos can measure)
-10 gallons are too small for them, even as juvies, i tried
-they get stressed easy cause they're so hyper defensive, don't handle them at all for a good while (months maybe?) except for neccesary things (this is something i had an issue with, it's hard for me to not play with my pets, i learned the hard way cause it stopped eating)
-mid 80s in the day, 70-75 at night (farenheit)
-a lot of hiding places, i have a lot of fake plants and glued a half log to the upper wall, there's a second half log on the ground up against the wall with a heat mat on that wall
-they don't need light and in fact hate light, but they'll get used to it if you want one on in the day for plants or something
-gloves are for .... can i swear on this site?
wear gloves if you don't like being bit, they will def. bite you at some point, it's how they say i love you, my gecko really loves me

anything else just ask

10gal on its side so its tall is perfect for young ones. I keep my babys in gallon jugs, them move them up to 12x12x12 exos in a community tank till they out grow each other. Then into 12x12x16 exos and they are pretty much the same as 10 on end.

High 80's mid 90's during the day, low 80s high 70s at night. To low of temps can make them not eat as well.

Glove stress them out a lot. If you hold them with your hand you can judge better how your holding them and no squeeze to hard on them. Its best to not even touch the animals. Just put them in the cage, feed and mist, and leave them alone. The more you mess with them the more stressed they will be. And there is really no reason to mess with them unless you moving them to another cage.

Oh yeah, I'm actually modding a 10 gallon to work vertically when I get the chance. I'm gonna get some glass I have cut and seal it to half the top. If I can I'm gonna take off the actual side and make it a screen top. It would be a huge pain to house it in a 10 gallon on it's side without modding it somehow, I would think.

Heres a few pics of 10s I made vertical. I try to keep my breeders in the mid 90s and they love it.

Smile heating the geckos

I didn't think about that. All of the literature i have looked at said that it wasn't very important. Just keep them between 75 and 85 night to day respectively.

Those are just being heated with the florescent bulbs. The bulbs are still keeping the high spot in that tank in the 90s. I didnt cut the top or anything in those. . I'd like to but they work good so why change it. I did the same thing with a 75 but I got a incandescent bulb heating that one. . its help up over it not on the glass though.
