I was wondering if I used an infrared heat source or a ceramic heating coil for my tokay, would it be ok to leave on constantly, or is the night time drop in temperature a must? I could just move the heat source off to the side for it to be more like night time I suppose. Tell me what yall think

electricity bill? 0,15kw * 12h *0,3 $/(kW-h)*365 = 197$
Just use a timer unless the room temperature is so low the temperature
would drop too much.

Here, everything switches off during the night except for a little fountain they drink from and a led light. If it gets too cold a small heat matt at the side will adjust the temp.

as for necessary, i've been wanting to know myself, i'm pretty sure it isn't. i think it might just stimulate natural behavior, if anything.

as bad as it sounds, im not worried about my electricity bill because currently im in college and no matter how much electricity i use, i get charged one flat rate

I do have a night time drop in my room but you dont have to have it. Its not a must have really. I never had a night time drop till I opened my garage into a reptile room. And I was breeding Tokays for a few year before that without a drop.

As long as your house dosnt get below the 70s at night you dont have to worry about night time heat.
