Male
Default Sexing Tokays

Well I have an opportunity to aquire 2 tokays for a whopping $40. I figure that's a great price. The only problem is that the person selling them doesn't know the sex of them and the picture they supplied doesn't help much.

I'm assuming that they can't both be males or they would be fighing all the time. So I figure that they've got to be male/female or 2 females. I suppose if they're both females I could get a male and have a trio.

I've already read about tokays and wasn't looking to get any however it seems a shame to pass up such a good deal. I'm attaching the pic that was supplied. While I know it's almost impossible to sex them from the pic any thoughts anybody has would be appreciated.

Thanks ... Dyesub Dave.

There is no way to tell the sex with that pic. You need to get one of the vent area.

Keep in mind that they could be two juveniles. And if thats the case they might be two males. But from the pic there really is no way to tell. Good luck!

Yeah ... that's what I thought regarding both responses. Perhaps I should just try to get them and if they end up being both males maybe I can find someone that will trade for a female?

Thanks .... Dyesub Dave.

Thats my problem, too many males and im always looking for females. But imo these guys are hard to sex and the only definate way of telling is if they develop wax in their pores making them male. I got a breeding trio a while ago and all of them were over a year old so i thought i was safe. 2 months later one of the supposed females started to develop wax it the pores and i found out i really got 2 boys and a girl.
