Well I guess mine are not the normal rule of thumb......
I've had my female White Line for about 3 years. She was originally WC. My male I have had for about a year. He was also originally WC. Both are established, and I got my first clutch from them this past weekend. I have been messing with an idea I had to keep them from laying eggs in the tank that I could not remove. I placed toilet paper rolls in there hoping she would lay in them. And it actually worked! So now I can incubate them myself. But back to the topic of handling, I hold my White Lines whenever possible. I started with manipulation. Basically scaring them out of their cage to my hand. After doing that for awhile, and once they finally got into a routine, I started picking them up like cresteds. I haven't been bitten by them yet. They are still alittle skidish. But not terrible. Once you walk them for a minute and get the energy out, they calm down. Here are some pics.
