Default Feeding a tokay gecko

I'm having a bit of a problem, it seems my gecko will not eat the crickets I supplied. In fact, it semms to be living in "harmony" with it, without any intentions of eating it. How can I get it to eat it instead of living with it?

Take the crickets out for about 2-3 days and then offer it just a few crickets. That should do the trick.

Is it wc or cb. How long have you had the tokay. I have noticed that some wc tokays just will not eat when they go into captivity and they starve to death. There is nothing really you can do about that.

One option would be too offer him a pinky mouse depending how old he is, not exactly something you want him to get hooked on but it may start the eating process at least.
My male wouldnt eat the crickets or worms either. I had to start him on one pinky a week untill he would take the crickets or worms on his own (he would take them from the tongs a bit), now I just cut back to one pinky every two weeks and hes started eating crix on his own. I will have him down to one pinky a month in the near future, which is the general accepted number for tokays (from what I've read).
Good Luck

Well, I believe its a wc considering that I got it from a retail store and its attitude, cause most cb are more "gentle" I guess. And wow, I dont want it to die. Is it possible to force feed it as in grab it and not shove the crickets but kind of goad it into eating? If there's any methods you know of please do tell.

Here is an idea. I have no clue about takays, since I have never worked with them, but what do you want to do if someone really P***es you off? You punch them in the face... So, I think that if you take a cricket, kill it, then kind of push it into the geckos face. In theory, he should get mad enough where he will reach out and grab it. Be persistant. I only have worked with leos only, but they are more timid, and it has worked with them, so I would think it would work with a toaky. Also, have you tried any other foods besides crix? I have a leo that won't go near a mealie or superworm, but slaughters anything else moving inside his tank. Try anything you can, roaches, waxies, mealies, superworms... Anything. Just get him eating. And if it turns out that he hates crix, start a roach colony, as gross as it sounds, since they are way better than crix anyway. Sorry, I have no clue what or how the tokays behave, so sorry if there are gaps in here, but I am sure someone else will correst me or fill in the spaces.

I am not big into force feeding. If they just refuse to eat on their own they don't eat. But that is what you deal with when you get wc. Thats why you buy 2-3 and hopefully one will eat and live.

I forcefeeded my tokay male after I bought him bit. Grab him and shove food in his mouth. He'll refuse sometimes but after some time he'll gulp. they know how to throw them up even when they are completely in their mouth so try several times. The trick is - get tokay vertically and "drop" cricket in his open mouth - they are more likely to eat it when crickets is deep in their throats.
Now he's cathicg them by himself.
