Default Tokay Escapee

Well, lets see where to start here, my tokays are in a tank which has an opening lid. Apparently last night one of them popped the lid opened and escaped. Luckily we found it under the heater but stupid me didnt anticipate its speed. It went in a hole in the wall and is now probably in the framework of our home. Any suggestions on how to get it out? Although at this point I doubt that theres any hope left.

It is just a waiting game now. Sooner or later you will find him running around on the walls of your house and you can try to catch him again.

FWIW -
The vertical studs in you wall should be 16" apart.
There should be a firestop about every 40" above the floor.
"In Theory" you should be able to cut a hole in the drywall no bigger than 14" wide and 38" tall and get it out. Of course any holes drilled in the studs for wiring and/or water pipes may have enough extra room for him/her to squeeze right on through into the next cavity...and so on.

I'm trying a home-made and very dubious trap to catch a big female G. vitattus. A piece of 1 1/4" PVC about 2 foot long, with one end capped. I've poured honey (about 1/4 oz) into it and let it run down the sides. I keep it stood on the capped end close to where I know she lives. One day I hope to see her eating her way along the trail of honey towards the bottom, and I can cover the open end and scoop her up.

Good luck to ya.

Its like Clif said, just wait.

As for cuting a hole in the wall....

You know where she lives now, and so does she. So, turn out the lights, wait a few hours.....and then run into the rooom and beat her to her hole, ONE PERSON BLOCKING HER ESCAPE AND THE OTHER ( WHOEVER IS THE MOST SKILLED, TO CHASE HER ALONG THE WALL BEFORE SHE REESTABLISHES HERSELF BEHIND THE DRYER OR SOMETHING.

Sorry bout the caps, I hunt and peck, and typed too much to go back now..

Good luck!!!!!

Its always a relief to catch them, I'm glad you got yours back!
I had a juvie Vitattus loose for a week before I caught him in the doorway from the kitchen to the living room. I threw a tupperware over him and caught him that way.
