hey i just got a tokay and he isnt eating! his temp and humid is at the right spots, he just doesnt seem interested in food. when i got him i noticed that he was really skinny too! there isnt any reptile vets around so i dont know what to do! anything can help
i got him on friday. he did he that day, but he hasnt eaten since. and i had him shipped.. i know i know. but there isnt anyone who sells tokays anywhere around because they are too aggressive... ugh.
well i've been trying to feed him crickets that are gut loaded and dusted, so he can get his nutrients. but he is also dehydrated. he isnt lapping any of the water on the sides of his tank.
Spray him directly with the water bottle. He might go a bit crazy and bite at it, but eventually they give up and lick the water off their faces.
Good luck on the feeding,
Paul.
That just causes more stress then necessary. Spray it on the side of the tank and leaves on the plants and they will drink it. You can spray above them where the water falls on the head but I would not spray directly on the animal.
Another thing. After you feed and mist leave the room. Sometimes they will be shy about eating in front of people at first. You might not see them eat or drink when you leave the room but most likely they are. A common problem is people just sit there and stare at the gecko waiting for them to eat, and the gecko is waiting on you to leave so it can eat. Eventually they will get use to you and eat in front of you with no problems.
