Default Tokay health concern, need help

We just got a female Tokay off of craigslist a couple days ago. Beautiful female, about a year old or so. The PO (previous owner) told us that a couple days prior to us picking her up she stopped eating her crickets out of nowhere.

I'm a little concerned, for the fact that this is the most DOCILE Tokay we've handled. Not to say that it isn't a good thing, but two other Tokays we have are extremely aggressive and don't let anything get near them... this one will let us pick her up without a prob! If anything, she's very lethargic and sluggish with her movements...

The PO's tank that she was in looked a little unkept (water not changed, droppings in tank, unclean tank). I have to say that it's my responsibility and fault that I didn't ask about her health probs before we picked her up, at the time I didn't think anything of it because we were moving her to a new home, and maybe that would stress her out a little?

I'm not sure what to make of it, if she's sick or not. There's no signs of mucous around her mouth/nose, but I notice that her tongue is a lot lighter than our other ones... would that make a difference?? We have her in a 10 gallon glass tank, the humidity is between 70-75%, we mist the tank 3-4 times a day (usually when we notice the humidity goes below 70), substrate is of a mulch-type, and temps are at 85-90 degrees.

I would leave her alone and let her try and settle in for a few days then try and get a fecal sample in to the vet to see if she has parasites.
You may want to keep her on paper towel substrate to monitor if she's pooping as sometimes it can be hard to find poop mixed in with earth.
If she seems to go downhill, you may need to take her into the vet, but moving her could cause even more stress and she may just need to re-adjust to the new home. In the meantime, give her lots of hiding places, paper towel rolls are wonderful and cheap hides for them.
Good luck with her!

Okay, sounds good. Thank you!

Do you think it would be a good idea to maybe put a towel over the tank as well to give it privacy? I was thinking that since they're nocturnal, maybe putting a towel over it would lighten her up to her new home?

If you put some good hides in the tank where she can hide from you and not be seen, that will be better than covering the tank.

Well, we figured out that she officially has some sort of internal parasites. The area around her vent is extremely caked with her droppings, and hasn't eaten a single cricket since I last posted. We scheduled an appointment for the next couple of days for her. Just wanted to say thank you all for the help so far, i'm pretty disappointed in the fact that we adopted one that was sick. Lesson learned for us to do our research next time.

Please tell me that you did keep her quarantined in the 10 gal and did not put her in with your other two healthy Tokays?

I wish you the best of luck with her, take heart, they are strong geckos. I hope you can treat her parasite load and that its not too late. Please keep us posted on her progress!
