First Tokay/Photos/Sexing

I picked up a WC in fairly good condition yesterday. I have experience with geckos and WC geckos and this one is doing great. Spent all night active in it's new tank and I was able to get some photos. Hopefully be able to sex it as well as it's 7-8 inches roughly.

In a very simply set up until I know it's going to do o.k. and then we have another VERY large tank earmarked for it.

Thanks for looking and any sexing help. I am really loving this guy/gal. The coloration is outstanding. What a sweet species.

Congrats on the new tokay, one of the better look WCs I have seen. Its kind of hard to tell in those pics but thinking its a male..

If you can get pictures of the vent without water on the glass or animal it will be much easier to sex.

WC - Wild Caught.

CB - Captive Bred.

Thanks everyone. I didn't think the photos were that bad but yes the water I guess makes it more difficult. I will try and get new photos tonight.

Hey Marisa,

Sorry I can't help with the sexing but nice lookin' Tokay. You weren't kidding when you said that you were going out to get one! LOL I really like the bright reds in him/her. Have you tried to hold it yet? I've heard they can give quite a bite sometimes.

quite a bite... some of them bite and dont easily let go

Nope, just means it was brought into the pet trade from the wild, and not bred in captivity. Quite a lot of reptile species available are WC, because it's cheaper to get locals in the native range of the animal to catch them and sell them on to petstores, than it is to breed them in captivity to produce CB offspring.
