Unhappy Golden eating her own eggs...

I knew she was going to lay because she was huge, and I just looked into her little hut where she normally lays them, and she was sitting there, with an egg (obviously just layed) in her mouth... the whole thing.
I got her out of the cave and she spat it out but its all broken and squidgy.

I know its not because shes hungry because shes eating well and has lots of suppliments...

Any ideas why she did this or what I should do?

(I've put the egg back in her cave)

Thanks,
Goldie

I would say that she ate them because they were either infertile, or because she's lacking in dietary needs and consumed it in an attempt to regain some of the nutritional value.
