Please Help with Golden
I need some help. I just purchased my first Gecko a week ago. He is a Golden. For the first 2 days he was in a 5.5 gallon aquarium and then he was moved to a 30 gallon. He was eating really good. I feed him gut loaded crickets and an occassional mealworm. I have sprinkled the crickets twice with a calcium and vitamin. I have read so many different things on caring for these little guys that I'm sure I'm doing something wrong. First I had a small waterfall for humitidy. That broke and soaked all of the bedding in the aquarium. I cleaned that up and removed the waterfall. I think it broke overnight because I found it wet in the morning. There was some puddling but there was no deep water. I didn't feed him that night because I was worried about the stress of the clean up I had to do. I have read that it is best not to feed for 24 hours after they are stressed (I don't know if that's true.) Anyway this morning I found him behind some vines in the bottom of the aquarium and he looked like he didn't feel good. He just didn't look right. I moved the vines and he only moved his head. Any other time he would have been out of there. He eventually tried to go up the glass but he couldn't get up there. It was like he his little feet wouldn't stick. I did mist him lightly and he took the water. I gave him some babyfood banana's on the end of a straw and he really seemed to like it. He licked it from the straw. I also gave him some water with the straw and he did take that. He is moving around now and he even came up his branch to the top of the cage and he took a little more babyfood and water. I live in a very small town and do not have access to a vet on weekends if I can find one that takes care of small reptiles. Until Monday, how often should it feed him and give him water? I am putting in a picture of him. When I took the picture I just got done giving him some food and water so his mouth is still a little wet. I have also noticed that he has gotten some more of his color back since it took the picture. I don't want to lose him.
