Question Are tokays shy??

Well, I have my tokays for a month and a half now and they're a pair of subadult specimens.

Until now I might say, from what I heard prior to acquire them (all the "vicious, killing machine with an attitude" ), I was expecting a more "outgoing" gecko. My guys just run for their hides everytime a get too close to the glass (I don't even try to handle them, I know they hate it)!
My viper gecko seems to have more nerve than the tokays! he, at least, does his bussiness even with me around and won't run for cover!

Bottom line, with time will they relax and build up more courage or are tokays just a shy species, unlike what most people might think?

Thanks!

Hello,
No, they are as DEFENSIVE as everyone says when you try to grab them. Mine run for cover when I come in, but will bite and hold if you grab them. Some will calm down if you are willing to take some bites, but will be more outgoing after some time even if you dont try to touch them.
