Question Skunk Gecko Qusetions

Hi there! I just got a skunk gecko, white-lined gecko. My sister, not being so smart, stuck her hand in the cage and started to pat Beejee, the gecko, like we did with our golden gecko, and he "growled" and ran to the other side of the cage. My sister is now scared of the gecko. Why did he "growl"? Do they make noises a lot? Should I expect this more often because he is just unfriendly?

Gigigecko

PS How do you keep the humidity precentage 60-70%?

Thanks for all of your help!

Hi, skunk geckos are a fairly aggresive gecko, and not too much of a 'petting' type of pet. They will make a sort of 'chirping' or 'barking' sound from time to time. But the noise you heard was the geckos way of saying, "Stay away." If you want a gecko that your sister can play with, try getting a leo, or a pictus. But don't let this divert your love for your skunk, because they all have their own personality and they are awesome to watch. Hope this helps.

What he said....and you do not need to keep the humidity at 60-70% all the time. Just mist once or twice a day and the humidity will spike up for a while and it will go back down as it dries out and that is fine.
