I found my female Tokay near the floor of her tank last night. Upon trying to pick her up, she began shaking (as if she was shivering) and biting as usual. She couldn't seem to get a grip on anything, and her toes were shaking the most.

She was back on the glass of her tank this morning, where I assumed she was fine until just now when I tried to move her. She is still shaking and her grip did not seem so good.

I've had her for a year now, and she has always seemed healthy, very plump and the tank is kept well misted so I have ruled out hunger and dehydration.

Could she be egg-bound? Or lacking some kind of vitamin? Or is she going through shed or what?

Mostly a sign of continuous stress. A high dose of B-vitamines often helps, but you have to identify the circumstances stressing the animal.
Of course it can also be a sign of extrme mineral, especially Mg deficiency. But in 90% of cases, it is, what I said first.

I would also say stress.
Have you make any changes inside the Tank last time?
Is it something different in the environment? (The room where you keep her, noise, etc).
If not, any changes on diet?



Ingo, I wanted to ask you, what would you do to make a skinny, but healthy Gecko, win some weight?

Her symptoms have died down, although my male seemed to contract the same thing and died shortly after I noticed. She still seems active and is eating waxworms again, so I'm just taking each day as it comes.

Shaking/seizures especially in the legs of most reptiles is a telltale sign of metabolic bone disease which is usually caused by a lack of calcium, vitamin D3, or both. Do your Tokays have access to a dish of calcium/D3 and/or do you powder their prey items?

good thing is shaking would be some of the first signs -MBD...so get going on Ca and D3
