You'll probably get a much better response if you A) make a thread of your own instead of high jacking someone else's, and B) tell us what kind of gecko you have. Veterinary care is indeed expensive. But it's also part of responsible pet ownership.

That is why I made the suggestion...so that you might, in the future, know how to properly place your questions. I would suggest placing your question in the leopard gecko section of the forums (here: http://www.geckosunlimited.com/forum...splay.php?f=93) in it's own thread. Also, you may want to try using the search feature as there are many threads already pertaining to egg binding that may contain useful information for you.

Default Antibiotic ointment not necessary

A big cut on the side is something to worry about, a tail falling off is perfectly natural and will grow back with no problems.

Oh I see. So antibiotic ointment is not necessary after all... I got confused when I found other members in this and other boards saying you should do this for leopard geckos. Thanks to both of you for clearing this up for me.

And yes, I agree that Granny11232's posts could have been better placed. It made my preceding comment rather awkward so I had to use quotes.

Most people freak out when something like that happens. The geckos are made to deal with stuff like that their self. Most of the time the more we try to "baby" them the more harm we do. Reptile in general are amazing creatures and they can and do survive/thrive without us treating them like they are fragile pieces of glass. If there were so fragile like people make them out to be they would of been extinct in the wild years ago.

Tile is great, if your lizards are indigenous to your bathroom

That's what I thought too, but the other female dying just the other day kinda has me on edge a little bit. I'm usually very good with caring for my animals and I do NOT take lightly to losing one of them.

Well the other one dying does not sound like it was your fault. You barely had her long enough for anything to happen. Sometimes stuff like that happens and there is not a lot you can do about it. That is why if you talk to anyone here they will recommend a cb animal over a wc any day. They cost a little more but you will have better success with them.

Whenever any of mine get n injury or drop a tail i use betadine solution i put it on a qtip or if they ar handleable squirt a little on them. This is the best with reptiles. It cleans the area, and doesnt hurt them in any way. Ointment actually soften their scales and can lead to further problems.
