hello,
as many of you already know do i own a website about tokay.
i'm trying to make it so complete as possible.
i know that there are alot of topics on my next questions but i'm really intrested in the personal maening of you tokay keepers.
so i made a litle survey.
will you please answer the questions mentioned below?
you can send me the answers by pm or in this topic.
i will use the info on my site.

I am by no means an expert...my answers are just what I've found works for my guy.

1 what's the best temperture during day and night
Day: 75-86 F (24-30 C), Night: 65-78 F (18-26 C)

2 Whats the best huminity
I've found 60% to work great...no problem sheds.

3 whats the best food to give
I like to feed roaches (Dubia or Discoid juveniles, Lobsters), crickets, and the occasional giant hornworm or pinky for treats (pinky maybe 1x per month).

4 whats the best way to breed tokay
No idea. From what I understand, they mate for life, meaning that they form a lifelong bond with one partner.

5 whats the best way to tame your tokay
Short, positive handling experiences, after you gain the tokay's trust. Coax it onto your hand (no grabbing or manhandling), and hold it with your hand flat (no restraining). If there is gaping, wait for the tokay to calm down and stop gaping, then handle for a few more minutes, and return it to its enclosure.

6 whats the best surrounding for a tokeh
If by surrounding you mean enclosure, I keep all of my sticky toed geckos in planted vivariums, taller than they are wide. Offer plenty of hiding places in/behind plants, in bamboo hollows, etc.

Cool. Some of the info I provided came straight from books, but have proven to work well for me. I'm glad to help! Like I mentioned in my email, I did tons of homework on tokays before I got one, and was surprised at how little tokay-specific websites/information was available. There's ONE book (in the US, that is), and a handful of websites. One of the reasons I joined this community was to gain more information on these guys.

I spray a couple of times from morning to night so usaully 50%-80%

3 whats the best food to give
I give a staple of crickets with the occasional Pinky ( i also use pinkies to fatten up the females during the breeding season)

4 whats the best way to breed tokay
Breeding is usually done with little encouragement, longer daylight (by one or two hours) and higher humidity to stimulate them, also more food.

They do breed for life but a male usually has no problem getting it on with more than one female lol.

5 whats the best way to tame your tokay
Tokays to me regardless of CB or WC can all be tamed with cautious regular handling and a good sense of what they are about to do.

6 whats the best surrounding for a tokeh
A typical naturalistic vivarium works the best, but fake plants work well too, i always provide plenty of hiding places, i use a natural moss and soil mix as the substrate to retain a constant humidity level, and for lighting i use a infrared light during the day and a ceramic heat emitter during the night, because if lights are on during the night i noticed that the colors are darker.

How do you handle a deffensive Tokay regulary without stressing it out?

Im not gonna say you can, cause you cant, but after they are already used to you near them and are comfortable with you, you can pick them up gently with minimal stress to your animal, i do not recommend this to all tokays as some will never come out of their defensive box, and do not recommend this every day as they are no Leopard gecko (they will bite and will become overly stressed) , but tolerable of you they can become, not completely tame as there is no way but tolerable.
