So i got my female tokay about a month ago, and the previous owner said she might be gravid. Since then i have seen no signs of her being gravid. My question is: How long does it take for a newly introduced pair to start breeding? When my male sees her near, he makes a gek-gek-gek-gek sound and starts moving closer to her but then looks away and gets back to his normal routine of walking around the cage, and resting.

I just need to know when i should be expecting her to get gravid.

Tokays usually readily breed but regardless when it comes to breeding patience is a VIRTUE, you can try to "SET THE MOOD" by increasing their day light hours by one or two hours, increasing the humidity, and the food supply but just because you dont see it happening dosnt mean it wont or hasnt so i would say if your male is calling you should be ready for eggs soon.

He doesnt really call though, its more of a breathing that sometimes makes a little croak sound. He used to call right when i got the female though.

My male didn't call at all by this female but after 3 months she did give eggs so don't worry and just be patients
