His tail looks like it might be injured in one or two of the photos. I would add live plants to the tank. I'm not a fan of fake plants.

Yeah im not sure if he dropped it previously before i bought him, i must admit he uses it ok and does not seem to show that it is injured, so im keeping my fingers crossed its just the pattern of it,
dont suppose you have any suggestions of plants i could put in?
i was thinking of using pete for substrate next time i clean the tank so will try to get some for then

Peat moss would be fine for substrate.
For plants:
Pothos is next to impossible to kill
look for plants that like a bit of sun, and high humidity.

I agree with others on the live plants. I use small umbrella plants, snake plants and pepperomia with my White Lines ... and of course Pothos is a good choice too. I would definitely add a large piece of bark ... preferably slightly curved. I'm not sure that your White Line will hide in the cave as I rarely see mine on the ground but they like to hide during most of the day.

I would also be a little concerned about the amount of heat you have. My pair is in an 18x18x24 Exo Terra with a fluorescent and 20w puck light above. The puck light would give a very localized basking spot of around 90 deg. F. The halogen bulb blew in the puck light and I've been keeping them at room temps (around 68 deg. F.) to simulate winter and they're doing fine and the female is still laying eggs. So I was just thinking that the halogen light along with the heat pad in a smaller enclosure may be too warm.

I have a layered substrate in the enclosure. First I use a layer of Hydroton (clay balls), plastic screening, gardeners charcoal, screening and finally a layer of reptile mix (earth and mulch) mixed with cocofibre. My pair has been successfully kept in this enclosure for over a year and I've gotten quite a few babies from them.

If you check further down in this thread (G. Vittatus not eating. please help.) there is a pic of my adult enclosure. It has grown in much more since the pic was taken but you get the idea. I still use a few plastic plants along with the live plants. The live plants and substrate also help to keep the humidity up.

BTW - My White Lines will eat Repashy Gecko Diet or home made Fruit Smoothies on a regular basis as well as the insects.

Anyways ... good luck with your new gecko!

Dyesub Dave.

Kool thanks for all the info, I will prob take out the mat in that case, on the plus note he does spend time in the cave then climbs up the back when he wants, so may still add it to my new setup.
Will keep ya all posted with my success

you might also want to add a money tree or a snake plant to it. I have money trees in mine and they have helped keep the humidity up ALOT and my Skunks hang out on them frequently.

Well, I got mine from a local nursery. You want to get a miniature Money Tree if you get one. You can keep it in a pot or plant it in the substrate; either way is fine. I have seen them sold online, but some of them are full size Money Trees that are 3-7 feet tall, so read carefully before purchasing! Hope this helped.
