Question Tokay feeding question

So I'm getting my first tokay soon, would it be a good idea to start breeding crickets? What do you guys do?

Buy your crickets from a local or online breeder. There is no reason to try and breed crickets for one gecko.

Well once I get a Tokay I would then have 6 geckos, and if tokays eat 15 to 20 crickets a feeding every other day, sounds like it would add up quick

Thats why you would buy bulk from cricket breeder. even with 6 geckos breeding crickets would not be worth your time. You would have thousands and thousands of crickets all the time that you must care for and raise up to keep a constant supply. Most likely you will spend more money on supplies breeding crickets then you would just ordering a thousand every couple weeks. Then the time and energy to keep up with them would not be worth it for 6 geckos. Even people that keep hundreds of geckos will order most of their crickets because the time and effort to breed them is not worth it.

Cliff is completely right, crickets are annoying, so fragile, and need to much attention...I would suggest instead of crickets, to start breedin' some roaches, my arboreal geckos, including tokay and golden gecko love them (dubia and blaberus), cause they are big and so easy to see between plants; roaches produce a lot of babies and are a lot harder than crickets, you can forgive having them and they will breed however...just add some carrots, bread, and some dry dog food!

I would suggest breeding some B. dubia roaches. They don't breed as fast as crickets. So you're not as likely to get over run with them. And they get a lot bigger than crickets and provide a much better, big meaty meal for your tokay. They don't climb, so you can just put them in a bowl (I use plastic "gladware" type bowls) and your tokay can climb in and eat what it wants.
