I've heard that gut loaded and dusted crickets are fine, but pinkys are great, maybe once a month, for breeding females.

No not really. I expect to bit some because it is in there nature and they are not used to being handled. I took these photos once I got them home and documented their weights. They gapped and barked a little and the male jumped on my shirt a few times, but they don't act afraid of me or troubled by the handling. That makes 7 adults I have now and only the craigslist rescue is dangerous. I think he was tormented by his previous owners for the 8 years they had him because I have never met a Tokay that would cross a 4 foot tank to attack me.

Insect prey is just fine. Pinkies are almost 100% fat and have almost zero nutritional value. Pinkies are ok if you need to put some weight onto a very thin animal. But certainly not a necessary food item.

So, you just take a few bites? As they are pretty big I though they would cause some damage.
