NEw Tokay Gecko Help

Hello everyone. Today i purchased a Tokay Gecko on craigslist from a man for 30 dollars. I feel like this animal was neglected as he is very underfed and has a break in the tip of his tail. He is very docile and has a calm temperment but is VERY fast. I have had much experience with Tokays that my friends own but i have never owned one myself. I didnt walk into this buy not being experienced as i have done much research. He is less than a year old and i am housing him in a ten gallon aquarium with many plants, vines and cocoa bark inside of it. I have one simple question. Whats the best way to heat this tank? I am using a Zoo Med UTH under one side and i have another small UTH on the side of his tank. The temperature my thermometer is reading is low 70. What could i do to bump this up to atleast 77? Im thinking maybe a CHE...?

I suggest a CHE. Make sure to put it on a thermostat or rheostat. UTH are almost useless for a tokay as a healthy tokay will spend almost zero time on the floor unless it's forced to.

I actually have the UTH on the side of the tank so he can get near it if he needs to. Im thinking about getting a CHE but i dont have much experience in the power or wattage of one. What wattage should i use for a 10 gal aquarium?

You'll want to upgrade that 10G before too long. Even turned vertical it won't provide enough room for a growing Tokay for very long.

Riverside what size/power level CHE do we need? I'll be putting mine on a 20G long turned vertical.

The size of CHE you need really depends a lot on the size of your enclosure, the average temps in your house, etc. I'd imagine that you would be fine with 100 watts or less. Make sure to put it on a thermostat or rheostat so that you can adjust the heat as needed. Just randomly saw this and thought I'd add that Petco is having their aquarium sale... from 10-55 gallons the price is by how many gallons the tank is. exp would be 40 breeder for 40 dollars.
