i'm looking for a tokay gecko. i was babysitting my friend's pair while he was out of the country and one got out and is currently hiding somewhere in my house. i don't have a lot of hope of finding him, and i feel terrible about the whole thing, so i want to replace him to try to make up for my goof up a little bit. if anyone can help me out i would greatly appreciate it.

Not sure what you were planning on doing, but my suggestion is you be honest with your friend about the gecko having escaped and mention how you feel about what happened and what you're willing to do (help look for the gecko, pay for a replacement, etc) and let your friend decide. I wouldn't get one before speaking to your friend about it. Reptile owners -contrary to what many people think- do get to know their pets very well and many have individual behavioural patterns. Your friend should also have a choice in the selection of the animal if that's the route you go. I can almost guarantee if you get a cover-up replacement, your friend will notice sooner or later.
