Hello Everyone.
I have a question about my tokay gecko.
Its about him eating. Im almost positive he is eating the crickets i give him but it seems like their numbers never go down. I keep about 8-11 in there at any given time. I think he's eating because i find gecko poop every now and then which means he is consuming something. I think he's a little on the thin side but it just may be his age. He is at very most a year old. You can see his backbone but not in the sense that you can count the vertebrate just that you can tell it is there. No other bones are visible. Im just worried he is not eating enough. Here is the only pic of him i have on hand. I can post more tomorrow. HE is very tame so he might enjoy a nice "photoshoot" Notice the cricket on the left side of the pic. It should help you in gauging his size.

Don't have crickets in the cage constantly. It stresses the animals out. Only feed at night. Bump up the heat and the humidity. Get him off that substrate, and onto natural garden soil.

Have you had a fecal done to check for internal parasites?

Ive actually switched him to Zoo Med eco earth about a week ago. His temps and humidity are where they should be and i have had a vet check his feces for parasites and it came back negative.

Perhaps try a different feeder. Or maybe, as mentioned above, take the feeders out and wait a few days before putting more back in. It may be that he's just stressed from the crickets crawling around all the time. Mine all feed on roaches like pigs and almost never leave anything behind. A young growing tokay should be doing the same.

Since the picture i posted was taken he has darkened up a bit. Like i said i have found feces but havnt noticed a substantial decrease in the crickets i put in with him. Is this because of his age? Theres no way he can be more than a year old. Thanks guys.
