Default Photos of My Golden Geckos

New here and thought I would post a couple of photos. I finally got some photos of the shy one, so that is the one you see in them.

Geckojudo ~

Nice golden gecko...she seems fairly large!

That looks like a really sturdy cage! What type is it?

Yes, she is large. Much larger than it said on the box (kidding about the box, not the size ). The cage is a Zilla fresh air topper. I have a "22gal long" aquarium, which gives quite a bit more space with the topper. The topper was originally a desperate attempt to deal with the strange aquarium size that I had acquired because I did not really know what to do with the space problem. I did not want it to be cramped in there and I thought there needed to be more of a vertical component to the whole home. It worked out really well, though, and temperature regulation is pretty easy. It also makes for a neat humidity gradient.

Interesting idea. I'll check out those Zilla Fresh Air Toppers! They seem pretty sturdy.

Nice to hear that your goldens were bigger than the box indicated !

Welcome to GU. I have a golden as well. It's a male. One of these days I need to get a female for him. I think they make for a great (and under-appreciated) gecko to work with.

I just looked into them as well, and souds like a great idea to me too!
Would there be a singnificant amount of humidity loss with so much of the top exposed like that?

Nice Golden's too O.P.

You would lose quite a bit of humidity with a top like that. But, you could make a "topper" that would hold humidity a lot better and it wouldn't be hard to make if you're fairly handy.

Default Toppers

That is a great looking gecko. I like how they have some similarities with other Gekko species and yet still look completely different. Yours looks very healthy and fat

I had been looking into getting a topper for Pepé myself, but couldn't find or make one for the aquarium tank he was previously living in. As for humidity, won't the lower aquarium part aid in retaining it? What if you just put a UTH underneath the tank and moistened the substrate? Would that help any?
