Default My new Tokay Enclosure

Hi everybody , I am finally getting a tokay !!! If everything goes as planned I shoud go get him Friday or sunday.

The story is that I had a Hogg Island Boa ( Boa constrictor Imperator ) that was given to me with the enclosure. But the 20g tank was too small for her and she wasnt living a happy life in that small space. Getting her a bigger enclosure was a problem because i dont have the money to afford a bigger tank so today I decided myself and I went to the pet shop. They gave me 100$ of credit for my Boa. I know she will now have a big tank and the guys at the pet shop do know really well about reptiles. So I am not scared that they will sell it to a good person and give them Good advices.

So here the Tokay setup I Made using stuff i already had and using 60$ of the credit. They should receive new Tokays Friday or sunday

What do you think of it ? If you have any advices and Usefull information on Tokay and their enclosure it would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Tokays don't tend to use hides on the ground very much unless it's the only option they have. You would do much better with some vertical tubes (pvc, cork bark tubes, paper towel tubes, etc) that they can hide inside or slate tiles leaning against the wall that they can get behind.

Thank you Ethan. I was looking for hides that stick to the wall but couldnt find any. The slate tile seem to be a good idea , I will probably get one and try it.

No problem. Personally, I'd take the tank itself and turn it vertical somewhat like I did here with these ten gallon tanks:
felinus vivariums
Tokay much prefer vertical space over horizontal.

Congrats. He looks nice and healthy. Is he a captive bred tokay? Something simple like a paper towel tube(s) will do for a temporary vertical hide.

Thank you. I dont know if he/she is a CB or a WC but im thinking more of a CB. I am already seeing him more on the walls and moving around. I putted crickets in there and also Superworms and i cannot see any right now. Some might have hid in the substrate but i think he already ate a couple. When I will be off from my work ill try to get him a PVC tube for hiding.

A couple of days to go and i will try to sex him/her. Glad he's already coming out from hiding a little but still go hide back when im getting too close of the enclosure.

If you take a peek in the "DIY" forum, I just posted up a thread about PVC tube hides.
DIY - quick, easy PVC tubes...
