Golden geckos, as most herps are animals to watch and not to handle.
Even though they can get used to being handled, this will always cause stress and they will never "like" it. Also they are just not capable of bonding to persons. So better leave the gecko alone and be content watching its fascinating behaviour.
And yes, golden geckos are relatively easy to care for and good for beginners.
If you provide a heavily planted 20g or bigger vertical tank with lots of vertically oriented hidings, mist this thing in the mornings and evenings and provide a balanced diet, including calcium and vitamine supplements, you will have a happy gecko for 10 to 15 years.
