Default Tokay lost part of his tail

I had my tokay out of his cage today doing a bit of handling with him. Well long story short. My dog scared the tokay and he bolted into the bathroom and got between the tank and the wall. I closed the door and let him calm down for a few hours thinking he would come out and head for higher ground. He didnt budge after 5 hours. So i got started probing behind the tank with a thin stick. Well I pinched the end of his tail and he dropped that section. So now he has that white fatty looking tissue at the tip. Its somewhere between 1/8-1/4 inch across. I think he lost about 1.5 inch of tail. Possibly less then that. Now my question is what the hell do I do. I got him safely in his enclosure. Do i need to put something on the tip? leave it alone? Never have had a gecko lose any part of the tail. CONSTRUCTIVE advice would be greatly appreciated. I don't need any negative critisim on my mistake. I already feel bad enough.

personally i would leave it alone any thing you put on there with ether stress him out more or he will lick off. i would monitor him though to make sure it heal alright, and don't worry it happens i recently had to take a tail of of one of my cresties because of floppy tail syndrome.

Thanks for the advice. I turned off the light in the viv and let him go. Any idea how soon he will start regrowing? How soon do you think his hunger will return. He was actually due to be fed this evening at lights out. Not sure if i should feed him or not now. Thanks for the helpfull info.

I agree, just leave it alone. It should heal on it own just fine.
