Default Tokay: male or female?

Hi,

I'm new here , Location : South East Asia .. just got my 1st Tokay Gecko 2 days back; it seemed doing fine ... eating & pooping and attacking when I get too near or make sudden move toward it ...

Question:
1. how can we tell it's a male or female? ... I would want to get its pair in 3-4 months from now ....

2. what is the proper way to hold them especially when I want to clean the terrarium?

3. is it possible to tame adults Tokay Gecko ?

Hope to hear from you guys....

Cheers!

Default Tokay Gecko

Hi Elizabeth. Thank you for the reply...

Some people said Tokay bite are dangerous (venomous) but from what I read it isn't ... can it caused serious infection tho ? I dont see big sharp T-rex teeth in the wide gaping mouth when I get close to my gecko....

I am more worried to hurt him/her than it hurting me actually ... I am scared that it will jump off then I couldn't catch it afterwards .. so I guess I tend to grip too tight ..

need advise on how to handle this cute thing (sigh)

No, they are not venomous, but yes, their bites can be painful. I don't try to "tame" mine. I like them just the way they are. But if you want to try to tame yours, you should look through previous posts, there are plenty of them about how to do so.

Towel over gecko. Wrap in towel, hold but not crush. 
