Default For how long do you.....

haven't posted up in a while because I never really have much to say, but I'm back. anyways getting back on topic, how long do you guys normally handle your tokay geckos? since I'm home most of the day, I'm able to take mine out of his cage for many hours each day. he just sits on my shoulder forever I try to let him go where ever he wants and he gets plenty of exercise each day. for those of you that don't work all day, how much time do you normally spend with your tokays?

I only handle my Tokays when their tank is up for major cleaning, about 4 times a year.
Apart from that, I respect them for what they are: geckos that simply don't like to be held...
That doesn't mean I don't spend time with them - I do daily maintenance and cleaning, feed them about 3-4 times a week, and generally love looking at them displaying behavior that is as natural as possible in their captive environment.
That's enough for me, and I have a strong feeling it's also enough for the animals.

I have to agree with most of what everyone else has said. I don't handle mine unless it's needed. I much prefer to observe their natural behavior rather than to try and "tame" them. There are others on here though that feel differently.

Only for weight checks and cage cleaning. The little ones get handled a bit more bc they go for more weight checks. And the real little guys are pretty flighty so whenever I'm doing nursery spot cleaning a few of them run for the hills. Requires me chasing the demons everywhere. But I'm not one for taming them.
