Feeding crickets when there are eggs present.
Hi fellow Tokay geeks,
My Tokay pair have already produced 9 eggs this season. It's especially cute to see them guard them by grabbing them with their front legs, as if to say "mine! Mine! MINE!!!"
Ever since the eggs appeared, I have hesitated feeding crickets to my animals, because I'm afraid they will eat - or at least damage - the eggs.
I feed them grasshoppers and dubia's and that goes well, but what I like about crickets is that they move around a little faster so the Tokays are forced to run after them to hunt them down. Never a bad thing in captivity where daily activity isn't always optimal.
Has anyone experience with crickets in tanks with Tokay eggs?
Removing uneaten crickets is almost impossible in my tank, since I provide the animals (and thus their food) with lush vegitation and cork/wood to hide in/under/beneath.
Any tips are welcome!
Thanks,
Gerard
