Personally I do not think there is a way to tame a gecko. The most easily handled geckos or leopard geckos and that is why many people buy them so they can handle them. In regards to easier way to pick up the gecko, try slowing going with your hand and not hesitating. They can sense hesitation and usually ends in skiddish behaviour of your gecko in that they start running and hidding quickly. If grabbing it does not work, you can also try a small container of some sort like those that pineapples come in. You place such container in the cage and allow for the gecko to walk into it, that way you have them in something else while you are cleaning. But since your gecko is not vicious and doesn't bite, why don't you try spacial clearing? I have a tough time with removing my Tokay, so in order to clean the cage, I remove everything with the gecko still in it. I do not remove all the substrate at once, rather i do it in a particular sequence so that in sections old substrate is coming out and new substrate going in. It allows the gecko to remain in the cage as well as allowing you to clean everything.
I also find it weird how your gecko doesnt eat crickets anymore. That is there main go to food source. I find it very strange. With my Tokay however, it does not eat any worms at all, so I just find it odd that your Golden Gecko seems to only eat worms, when I cant even get my Tokay to eat a worm.
