So my Tokay laid three eggs about a week after I got her. She laid two and then another one about a month apart. The first two hatched about a month ago and I was pretty sure that the last one was a dud. But Ethan(riverside) said to never give up until you know for sure they are duds. So I let it go and low and behold another little guy is currently roaming in this huge tank.
Three Tokay baby's!!!
Anyways Just thought Id share the good news. Still kinda crazy though. Only wanted one Tokay and now have four. Will be neat to watch grow.
That is amazing congrats. Did you know your Tokay was pregnant when you bought her? If not that would have been a great surprise if you have the space to accommodate them, which you clearly do. I hope soon enough I can get a male for my female and have my own hatchlings to watch. Everyone mentions their experience and it really makes me want to have my own.
No I had know idea that she was prego when I got her. If I did I probably wouldn't have bought her. It is neat though that she laid three eggs. It pisses me of though because that means the pet store guy that I like lied to me. He said she was captive bred from a breeder. But no breeder is going to give up a gravid female if that means more profit. So that means she is wild caught. They can hold sperm inside them for long periods of time until they find a suitable spot. so she came from the wild. Was shipped across the ocean and then sat in a tiny little cage till I bought her and put her in a huge tank. where a week later she spooged out some eggs.
Congrats! Guess you've learned your lesson about not throwing out eggs now! Don't be too down on the guy that sold you the female. Maybe he was told that it was cb and just didn't know better. Whatever the case, you got 4 tokays for the price of one! So I wouldn't consider it a bad deal
