Default feeding tokay

i have a tokay gecko in a 40 gallon hex tank as most of you probably know and i am feeding him large crickets. the thing is is i dont know if hes eating any? the terrarium is so large and rull of moss and plants i dont know if he will be able to find any? would you suggest putting him in a separate tank to feed him? or should i feed him something else like meal worms? also should i add viatamins or supplements to the crickets?

as you can see he could use some bulking up.

Crickets are fine. They need to be gut loaded as well as dusted with calcium. The calcium should be phosphorous free. If you see poop on a regular basis, then he's eating. I wouldn't stress him by taking him out of one enclosure and putting him in another for feeding. Remember, these animals hunt in the wild for themselves. They're certainly capable of hunting inside of an enclosed area.

If your worried about how much he is eating than do what I did. Take a milk jug and just cut the top off. I left the handle on so that I can grab it with ease. Then just put some velcrow on it and stuck it to the side of the tank. Mine knows where its going to be and is most of the time waiting for me to put it in the tank. Some crickets will jump out but not to many.

Great idea for use with any arboreal geckos. Simple and cheap too. You should write up a litle post with some pics and post it in the DIY section.

Totally... I may want to use this new idea as well. Help reduce breeding of crickets in my cage.
