Actually, I don't track feces specifically. That's not to say I don't pay attention to what I do see. I treat all imports for internal parasites as a matter of coarse anyway.
What I look for is if he is eating, hiding vertically and not laying on the bottom. Obviously keeping him misted and at the right temps are important. Make sure he gets enough light to see the day/night cycle and not completely covered.
Check in at night to see if he is out when you sneak in. He may run back to his hide, but that's OK. You want to see activity.
Remember, most new imports do not have huge appetites at first. Give him six months and he'll be eating you out of every cricket you can throw at him.
