Default temp problem

i have a 250 watt heat emitter, temps won't go above 75 now since it's dropped from fall season. i tried adding a second heat emitter (150 watt) and it hasn't raised it more than a couple degrees. how am i gonna keep the temp up at 85-90 during the winter? do people normally just add more bulbs to increase heat or does that not work, it's possible that i have to place it differently because i don't have a normal aquarium with a screen top.

Can you post a picture of your viv. also I'm going to need viv size and room temperature.
If it's a glass cage you can try to add some isolation to keep the warmth inside.

nah, i dont have a camera :/

it's wood though and larger than a 55, idk how large exactly

room temp, no clue, maybe 60

for the winter i'm going to get a space heater because my room gets to 45-50 but right now i'm still having trouble keeping the temp up

I think the problem is the low room temperature or a broken temp sensor

My room temp is 65 during the night and 70 during the day.
I heat a 75 gallon wooden viv. with a 75Watt halogen lamp to 90°F
During the night a heat matt kicks in.

400Watt of heat emittors should be able to cook your gecko.

yeah, its gotta be my low room temp. i was just wondering if i can heat it up without raising my room temp. i'm already using a 250 watt and that only picks it up about 10 degrees, i'll just have to get a space heater for my room

which i wanted anyway so it's cool

Like Stoph said try a new thermometer too. That one could be messed up and it could be really hot in there.

Where exactly are putting the temp probe at in the cage when you are checking the temps.

the temp gauge is in the middle (height wise), maybe it's not a problem yet since i never see them climb up by the heat source. so they're not acting like they're too cold

im quite sure it's not broken though. the cage next to it has 2 thermometers and also had some trouble keeping temps up on cold days

i was mainly just worried with the winter coming on though. i'm getting a space heater so it won't be a problem

If the top is open to air circulation, the warm air will just float out the top. I think you could close off most of the ventilation and use a much smaller heater. That would also help with keeping the humidity up. The air in a heated room in winter is very dry. Only 20% humidity in my house in Chicago.

Can you move the enclosure to the warmest part of the romm as well? (away from windows and possible drafts) I am going to have to switch some gecko cages around because I have a female that needs cooling, and some geckos that need to be warmed so they will swap places.
