New from Indiana
Hey Everyone,
I just joined and thought I'd post something about myself and ask questions.
Yesterday, I got two Fat-Tailed Geckos. I believe one is male and the other female. I think one is patternless (no markings-and is kinda a white color), and the other one is brown with a white stripe down its back.
The brown one (poss. male) is missing a foot. He is also shedding, on his nose and eye lids. Is there anything I can do to help him shed??
The patternless (poss. female) is keeping one eye closed more often. Any ideas?
A local pet shop got the two in a week ago. The old owners couldn't/wouldn't care for them anymore. Both were on the skinny side, but now are looking a bit better.
I looked information up on them before getting them. I also found this site and have been viewing it for a couple of days.
I haven't ever owned a gecko, so this is new. I'm currently a companion to a Bearded Dragon, water turtles, and now these guys. I also have several non-reptiles. In the past, I have had an Iggy (Iguana), and some other dragons.
Getting into geckos with not knowing a thing about them probably wasn't a smart move, but I just want to give these two a good life. They can be handle, but I don't want try yet because I don't want to stress them.
Because I researched some before getting them, they have at least the basics of what they need.
I was told that while the Pet Shop had them, they were each gave 3 pinkie mice. One of the two geckos threw the mice back up. Should I be concerned?
The patternless was really dark yesterday when I got it. Once I got it home and put it in the tank, it lightened up. Any ideas??
The Pet Shop had all the wroung stuff for them. The wrong bedding, no plants and no hide for them. They also didn't have a good light on them.
Both ate about 3 small (1/2 inch) crickets yesterday. Today the seem lazy, but I'm sure they'll be more active tonight.
Any ideas, advice, and comments are more then welcome. I'll try to get some pictures tonight/today. Also, do any of you take your geckos to the vet??
Thanks,
Hilly
