Default New UK Flame Crested Owner :-)

Hi to everyone on the site,
I picked up my first reptile yesterday... He's a tan / black flame crested gecko and he's amazing!! Only my first night with him at home but he's great to watch... I have not handled him (apart from transfer into his viv) as he is shedding AND a new home all at once so I dont want to stress him out... He has so far ignored his live food but I think thats ok as he tucked into his shedded skin for most of the night so I assume thats nourished him enough?

I was looking for a care sheet on this site, does it have one? Or is there anyone out there who can give me a link?

Cheers

Matt

Welcome and grats on your crestie!
These guys are pretty much bullet proof as long as you feed them correctly and mist them every night. Pangea is a great place for getting advice on them and there are loads of keepers over there with good caresheets, but for now, the best suggestion I can make is to feed it the Repashy Crested Gecko Diet. it has been formulated specifically for their nutritional needs and so you won't need to mess with supplementing and worrying about which vits and minerals to use, or how much as long as you feed it as directed.
Its also good because its a powder form so you can mix as much as you need per feeding, instead of having it go to waste!
I even use it to gutload and dust the insects I feed as treats.

Looking forward to seeing pics of your crestie.

Hi jrne & Saille,
Thanks for the replys & advice... I printed off the pangea sheet along with a few others I found.... And this morning I woke to find their viv minus crickets!! now i'm guessing they were eaten as I'm sure 8 crickets dont all play hide n seek at once lol..
I have uploaded pictures of my new geckos & they are getting along great!!

Once again, Thanks for the replys.

Matt Hutch.

Thanks Tokeh,
They had their first taste of baby food last night (mixed with calcium & honey)... It must have given them both a suger rush as they spent the whole night chasing each other around and jumping on crickets lol.... cute as hell to watch but i only got 2 hours sleep

mine are not tame at all.
but they have never bitten or tried to bite me.
they only bite as defense when you want to pick them orso.
if they do bite its your own fault.
and when they bite they probably wont let go for a while.
a lot of people on gu have tame ( as far as you can call it tame) tokay.
when my male was with his first female he did call quit a lot but he has a new female and i have not heard him yet.
there sound is great though it sounds really cool.

nothing for you a tokay?

see my site

Tokays are cool no doubt there... they are almost comical the way they pounce around their viv & do their hiding tricks.... I plan to breed my cresties though so no tokays for me... I think that in a few months time I'll have my hands full lol.
