I understand what you are saying. I would maybe freeze any fresh laid eggs to stop breeding if needed, however eggs which lay undiscovered will be hatched, as I would never risk destroying a baby already forming within.
I would also keep boys seperate, so eggs would be unfertile ( I know about retained sperm).
